Job Title: Supervisor Health Information Services

Victoria General Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor to lead our Health Information Services team.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and directing the activities of the Health Information Services team, ensuring that patients are registered accurately and efficiently. The Supervisor will also represent the hospital on various committees and working groups, and will assume delegated activities in the absence of the Health Information Services Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and direct the activities of the Health Information Services team, ensuring that patients are registered accurately and efficiently.
  • Represent the hospital on various committees and working groups, and assume delegated activities in the absence of the Health Information Services Manager.
  • Ensure that patients are registered according to standards and best practices, and that registration and communication processes optimize workflow.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care.
Requirements
  • Two years direct experience in Patient Registration.
  • Demonstrated experience with an automated admission/discharge/transfer (ADT) application, including knowledge and experience with software messaging standards.
  • Experience with telephone communication equipment.
  • Experience with interpretation and application of relevant privacy and related legislation.
  • Graduate of a recognized training program for Health Information Management Professionals, Business Administration, or Health Services Management.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively schedule, supervise, direct, motivate, and evaluate staff.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions within scope of practice and role.
  • Demonstrated team building and coaching skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
