Engineering Co-op, Distribution Design Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Co-op student to join our Distribution Design team at FortisBC. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on various projects, collaborate with engineers and managers, and gain valuable experience in the electrical utility industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform site visits and work with the Distribution Design Group to document typical work tasks and update training material.
  • Collaborate with the Design Group, Regulatory, and Operations teams to implement and update process documentation.
  • Liaise with other Utilities to develop strategic changes to the department.
  • Provide technical support and work with the Distribution Design & Operations group.
  • Update Distribution Design Tools and Tool Configuration using various MS Excel and/or scripting methods.
Requirements
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering program with an Electrical focus - Third or Fourth year required.
  • Enrolled in a Co-op program.
  • Valid driver's license and current abstract.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Interested in learning more about the Electrical Utility Industry.
  • Competent public speaker.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work with a variety of individuals within the Engineering and Operations teams.
  • Competence in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Competent with VBA and/or other scripting language.
  • Experience or knowledge with AutoCAD.
  • Experience with PLS Cadd considered an asset.
