Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Services Manager to join our team at Southbridge Care Homes. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of facilities, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Manage the housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance departments to ensure high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure optimal facility performance.
  • Supervise contractors and vendors to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and quality standards.
  • Manage departmental budgets, inventory, and supplies to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop and implement policies and procedures related to facility maintenance and operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to facility maintenance and operations.
Requirements
  • Two-year post-secondary diploma or degree in Environmental Services/Building Services Management or related field.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, and heating and ventilation systems.
  • Experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity, preferably in a long-term care setting.
  • Formal training in building maintenance is an asset.
  • Health and safety certification is an asset.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices and/or prevailing practices relating to housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both English and French.
  • Ability to complete a vulnerable sector check.
  • Ability to work day shifts with some on-call capabilities.
  • Ability to meet physical and safety requirements of the job.
