Job Summary

Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a skilled Control and Instrumentation Technician to join our Engineering Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the programming, start-up, and servicing of all HVAC controls and BAS system components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily system and operational checks, inspections, troubleshooting, testing, preventative maintenance, and repairs.
  • Create control programs, drawings, plans, and specifications for installation of new system components.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain equipment and building time of day schedules as required.
  • Analyze and recommend system solutions for complex BAS/HVAC problems.
  • Provide technical input to the resolution of maintenance problems, material standards, purchase of new equipment, and capital projects.
  • Identify energy-saving opportunities through data and trend analysis.
  • Work with the Capital Development team and outside contractors on shutdowns, print review, attending commissioning orientation, and necessary training.
  • Perform all required preventative maintenance work to meet hospital and code requirements.
  • Coordinate activities of external service providers as directed.
  • Recognize unsafe work practices and hazards in the workplace and ensure corrective action is taken.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of pneumatics, thermodynamics, electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, and electronic systems and controls.
  • Must hold and maintain a current Province of Ontario Trades Certificate of Qualification as a 447A.
  • Minimum of five years' experience as a qualified tradesperson.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, think analytically, and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use the tools and equipment of the trade.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Visio.
