As a key member of our support staff, you will work collaboratively with teachers and other Special Education staff to provide instructional support, physical needs support, and facilitate communication for students with special needs.
Key Responsibilities- Work cooperatively with teachers and other Special Education staff to provide instructional support and physical needs support for students with special needs.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and other support staff to ensure effective support and services.
- Implement plans and strategies as directed by teachers and other Special Education staff to support students with special needs.
- Foster educational and social skills of students with special needs through various activities and interventions.
- Contribute to the total care and well-being of students with special needs.
- Assist in supervision and maintaining discipline in the classroom and school setting.
- College diploma in Behaviour Science Technology, Developmental Service Worker, Child and Youth Worker, or Social Service Worker, or a diploma in Early Childhood Education or Personal Support Worker Certificate.
- Two to three years of previous experience working with children/adolescents with learning or developmental disabilities in a formal environment.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in various settings and function within an interdisciplinary team.
- Proven ability to deal with confidential information in a discreet manner.
- Physical ability to perform the work, including possible lifting of children up to 25 kg.
- Knowledge of relevant Special Education resource tools.

This is an on-call position, and the successful candidate will be required to work on an as-needed basis to replace absent staff. Full-time and part-time temporary opportunities are often available and offered to supply staff.
