Engineering and Survey Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering and Survey Technician to join our team at the Government of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our Maintenance & Operations Division, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and construction of various projects throughout the province.
Primary Accountabilities- Review and administer Work Within Highway Right-of-Way Permits and assess subdivision/development plans.
- Assist with contract administration, collecting, compiling, and presenting data collected during field work, and determining quantities of materials for use on projects.
- Assist supervisors and managers with maintenance project planning, designs, permitting, and oversight.
- Conduct field surveys to confirm property and highway boundaries.
- Collect field survey data with GPS and total station equipment, plot, and prepare CAD drawings and sketches.
- Maintain and disseminate signage and pavement marking plans, highway right-of-way plans, and other official records.
- Coordinate winter salt management.
- Periodically confirm accurate inventory levels during winter operations.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in surveying or civil technology, preferably with a Certified Engineering Technologist designation. Experience in construction, maintenance, or planning is also highly valued.
Working ConditionsThis role will require you to work in a variety of settings, including offices and outdoor locations, with frequent travel throughout the province. You must have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable motor vehicle.
