Job Overview:

We are looking for an Automotive Service Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be proactive in addressing challenges, self-driven, reliable, and capable of collaborating effectively within a team. This position will report to the Distribution Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely diagnose, repair, and maintain all systems on trucks and trailers.
  • Conduct thorough preventive maintenance on all vehicles.
  • Proficiently utilize manufacturer diagnostic software.
  • Interpret and apply OEM manuals and online resources for maintenance and repairs.
  • Monitor and execute preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with company standards.
  • Manage parts inventory, including tires, fuel, and lubricants.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers to ensure timely repairs.
  • Employ various diagnostic and calibration tools.
  • Adhere to trucking bulletins and alerts, including manufacturer recalls.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues related to hydraulic systems.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Comply with safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
  • Familiarity with 49 CFR § 396 and relevant regulations.
  • Ability to obtain air brake inspector certification.
  • Knowledge of 12v electrical systems.
  • Capability to achieve air conditioning repair certification (609).
  • Valid driver's license; CDL class A with hazmat and tanker endorsement required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications (Microsoft Office, Email, Electronic Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Availability for overtime and on-call duties as required.

Preferred:

  • Experience with cryogenic systems, including pumps and piping.
  • Familiarity with Freightliner and Detroit Diesel engines, as well as Eaton transmissions.
  • ASE certifications.
  • Skills in fabrication and welding.
