UniFirst Corporation is on the lookout for a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Technician I to become a vital part of our team. As a key member of the Maintenance Department, you will be responsible for the upkeep, repair, installation, and troubleshooting of various industrial machinery, systems, and components, both inside and outside our facilities. This includes, but is not limited to, large-scale washers, dryers, pneumatic and steam systems, conveyor systems, and boilers. We maintain a standard work schedule from Monday to Friday and offer immediate openings with comprehensive on-the-job training.

Key Responsibilities:

· Utilize hand and power tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, along with precision measurement tools and electronic testing devices.

· Ensure the safe operation of machinery, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and components.

· Follow blueprints, schematics, operation manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications.

· Diagnose equipment issues through observation and the use of precision measuring and testing instruments.

· Conduct boiler chemical and wastewater pre-treatment system testing, document results in logbooks or computer systems, and make necessary chemical adjustments as needed.

· Perform daily and weekly safety inspections on boilers and execute necessary repairs.

· Implement Lockout/Tagout and Confined Space procedures as appropriate.

· Record and analyze utility meter readings and take corrective actions when necessary.

· Conduct daily and weekly safety checks on locations/systems and follow up to address any concerns.

· Inspect motors, belts, fluid levels, replace filters, and carry out other maintenance tasks according to established procedures.

· Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other equipment parts in accordance with work procedures and technical manuals.

· Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System for all repair and preventive maintenance activities.

· Respond to emergency alarms and collaborate with other maintenance personnel on emergency and non-emergency repairs.

· Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

What We Seek:

High school diploma and/or GED is required. A two-year technical degree in a relevant field is preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age. A valid non-commercial driver’s license and a clean driving record are required. Familiarity with maintenance equipment is essential. A minimum of 6 months of experience in repairing industrial processing equipment in a production setting is required; applicable military experience will be considered. Ability to read blueprints and schematics is essential. Proficiency in reading and understanding maintenance literature in English is required. Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office are necessary. Experience with Lockout/Tagout procedures is required. Prior welding experience, including MIG, TIG, ARC, cutting, and brazing, is preferred. Experience with formal safety programs is preferred. Familiarity with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is preferred. HVAC experience and knowledge of boilers are preferred. Ability to lift up to 80 lbs is required. Willingness to work overtime as needed is required.
