Job Overview

The Dirt Merchant Ltd. is seeking a skilled Construction Equipment Operator to join our team. This position involves operating various types of heavy machinery in a variety of settings.

Education Requirements
  • Completion of a trades certificate or diploma in a relevant field
  • Training in heavy equipment maintenance technology
  • Experience in operating construction or earthmoving equipment
Work Environment

This role primarily takes place outdoors in various locations, including remote sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret blueprints and specifications to plan operational methods
  • Operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently
  • Conduct pre-operational checks and maintain equipment
  • Complete necessary logs and documentation
  • Train and assist other operators as needed
  • Perform minor repairs and scheduled maintenance on equipment
Certifications and Licenses
  • Heavy Equipment Operator Trade Certification
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate
  • Valid Driver's License (Class 1 or A, Class 3 or D)
  • Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
  • WHMIS Certificate
  • First Aid and CPR Certification
Equipment Operated
  • Backhoe excavators, loaders, bulldozers
  • Graders, compactors, rollers, scrapers
  • Mining equipment such as Load-Haul-Dump units
Physical Demands

This position is physically demanding and requires attention to detail.

Personal Suitability

Strong written communication skills are essential for this role.
