Job Summary

The City of Ottawa is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Program Administrator to join our Inclusive Recreation team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of facilities and service delivery for recreation venues and programs, parks & recreation policies, and programs for cultural services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver therapeutic recreation day programs, including the Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Program, the Variety West Program, and/or the Supported Community Enhanced Learning (SCEL) Program.
  • Manage the intake/assessment process, therapeutic recreation, social and recreational aspects of the program.
  • Supervise staff and volunteers, ensuring a customer-centric and efficient service delivery.
  • Develop and implement programs and services that meet the needs of individuals with disabilities and population segments who may experience barriers to access recreation services.
Requirements
  • Completion of a 3-year university degree in psychology, sociology, therapeutic recreation, social work, education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience working with special populations in social service agencies, rehabilitation, clinical, or therapeutic recreation environments.
  • Experience in supervision of staff and volunteer management.
  • Crisis Prevention/Intervention training certificate.
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates.
  • Valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated.
Language Requirements

Candidates must meet the language requirement for the position upon hire, which includes proficiency in both English and French (oral, reading, and writing).

What You Need to Know
  • Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa's satisfaction.
  • Driver's License Requirement: A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated.
  • Initial Pay: You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
