Job Summary
As a member of the management team, the Manager of Wellness and Disability Solutions will be responsible for strategic planning activities related to Cowan's Return to Health disability and wellness management services. The manager will lead and engage a team of professional case managers and ensure the timely delivery of excellent service to internal and external clients. Responsibilities include leading the team, collaborating on business strategies, ensuring client satisfaction, and contributing to operational profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a remote team of case managers, providing guidance on complex cases and workload management;
- Develop and monitor measures to ensure effective case management and support disabled employees in recovery and return to work;
- Assist in resolving issues related to claims and appeals;
- Regularly communicate with clients to ensure satisfaction and loyalty;
- Establish and maintain relationships with key clients to understand their needs and identify business opportunities;
- Attend client meetings to discuss process improvements and disability trends;
- Work on special projects as needed;
- Contribute to the development and support of new business opportunities;
- Review data and costs related to disability, identifying opportunities for claims management improvement;
- Collaborate with reporting analysts to provide dashboards and trend reports to clients;
- Assist benefits advisors in presenting disability and wellness management offerings clearly;
- Work with internal audit and training to ensure quality service and ongoing training for case managers;
- Promote wellness offerings to help clients create a healthier workplace;
Qualifications
- Fluency in French and English required;
- Minimum 5 years of disability management experience;
- Previous team management experience;
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to motivate remote staff;
- University degree in a health-related field is an asset;
- Disability management professional designation is an asset;
- Experience in integrating disability systems and operational processes;
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities;
- Data analysis skills with ability to interpret results;
- Knowledge of employment standards, disability management, collective bargaining, and labor relations;
- Self-motivation and ability to learn independently;
- Experience in employer wellness or HR practices is an asset;
- Excellent presentation skills;
- Proficiency in programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint;
- Knowledge of collective insurance principles;
- Leadership style that supports team growth;
