Position Overview:

We are in search of a dedicated Senior Mechanical Engineer to enhance our Displays division. This role involves a comprehensive understanding of requirements and executing detailed design tasks related to avionics and defense display systems. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be pivotal in interpreting customer needs and converting them into precise product specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design intricate electro-mechanical assemblies, including mechanical structures, optical elements, and the packaging of various electro-mechanical components.
  • Create detailed 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Evaluate and select materials based on established criteria.
  • Conduct tolerance assessments, mechanical stress evaluations, thermal management analyses, and various engineering tests as necessary.
  • Translate rough sketches, schematics, and verbal instructions into comprehensive engineering drawings.
  • Produce precise manufacturing documentation.
  • Assign part numbers for drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and related documents.
  • Generate and manage BOMs effectively.
  • Prepare and process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Stay updated on new materials and technologies to enhance product performance.
  • Develop design guidelines aimed at reducing design cycles and improving performance.
  • Support manufacturing by resolving technical design challenges on the production floor.
  • Address corrective actions and non-conformance reports as the technical authority.
  • Assist and maintain communication with suppliers.
  • Organize and present work and results in both formal and informal settings.
  • Function effectively as an individual contributor, a member of a cross-functional design team, or as a Project Leader.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 8-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Over 2,000 hours of experience with SolidWorks in designing and drafting electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Proven knowledge of various manufacturing processes, including machining, casting, molding, finishing, and circuit card assemblies.
  • Eligibility for EAR / ITAR clearance is required.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally may be necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with avionics and military specifications/standards.
  • Experience in display products and LCD design concepts (optics).

Employment Type: Full-time

Compensation: $110,000.00-$130,000.00 CAD annually
