Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Lawyer to join our Professional Regulation department for a 6-month term. The successful candidate will work closely with our team to provide legal support and expertise in the regulation of professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on proposed policies and amendments to Law Society Rules
  • Prepare legal memos and reports to support decision-making
  • Collaborate with other departments and regulatory bodies to gather information and data
  • Develop and implement policies and guidelines to support the regulation of professionals
  • Provide advice and guidance to staff on administrative penalties and regulatory matters
Requirements
  • Member in good standing of the Law Society of BC or eligible for membership
  • Minimum of five years of practice experience
  • Experience in legal research, public policy development, or the regulation of professionals
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems
  • Advanced legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to handle and prioritize a volume of work
