Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Education Assistant to join our team at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Separate School Division. As an Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse learning needs in a junior high school setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students with various degrees of need in the learning environment under the direction and supervision of the Inclusive Education Liaison, classroom teacher, and principal.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to fully and meaningfully include diverse learners and cultures in a junior high school.
  • Provide physical support to students in all aspects of their educational program.
  • Carry out tasks as assigned by daily and program supervisors.
Requirements
  • Education Assistant Certificate and/or Diploma or Rehabilitation Practitioner Certificate and/or Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one-year experience working with students with special programming needs.
  • First Aid training.
  • Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments Training (SIVA) Certificate.
  • Training and experience with augmentative communication systems.
  • Experience working on academic goals with students who have multiple barriers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Brain Story Certification through Alberta Family Wellness training.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to take responsibility for individual student needs.
  • Ability to contribute in a collaborative team-based learning structure.
