Nurse Practitioner, Complex Malignant Hematology Program

University Health Network (UHN) is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our Complex Malignant Hematology Program. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality patient care, work collaboratively with interprofessional teams, and contribute to the development of our program.
Job SummaryThe Nurse Practitioner will work in an expanded role, demonstrating autonomy and expert skill in managing the care of patients referred to the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. You will be aligned to one of the following sub-specialty areas: Leukemia (Outpatient), Leukemia (Inpatient/Clinics), Allo Transplant Team, or Lymphoma, Myeloma, Auto Transplant Program.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning
- Work collaboratively with interprofessional teams to develop and implement care plans
- Contribute to the development of our program, including research, education, and quality improvement initiatives
- Participate in academic and leadership activities, including delivering, coordinating, and participating in research, education, and professional development activities
- Current College of Nurses of Ontario Registration in the Extended Class (EC) as a NP required
- Completion of a Master's degree required
- Demonstrated expertise as a Nurse Practitioner preferred
- Up to five (5) years of relevant experience; including three (3) years of experience working in the malignant hematology setting preferred
- Certification in Oncology Nursing preferred or commitment to obtain certification when eligible
- Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support required
- Commitment to collaborative practice
- Experience in nursing research methodology an asset
- Eligible for cross-appointment to an academic institution
- Evidence of professional malpractice insurance
- Membership in the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology (CANO) and other organizations relevant to the role preferred
- Knowledge of data management programs an asset
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal and customer services skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Excellent decision making, problem recognition and problem solving skills
- Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Program planning and evaluation methodology skills an asset
- Ability to work effectively independently and under stressful conditions
- Ability to work in a self-directed manner
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple demands
- Ability to utilize information technology
