About the Role

The University Health Network is seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our Complex Malignant Hematology Team. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert care to patients with complex malignant hematology conditions, working collaboratively with our interprofessional team to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care to patients with complex malignant hematology conditions, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of their care.
  • Work collaboratively with our interprofessional team to deliver high-quality patient care, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients, taking into account their unique needs and circumstances.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families, promoting health literacy and self-management skills.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote best practices in patient care.

Requirements

  • Current College of Nurses of Ontario Registration in the Extended Class (EC) as a NP required.
  • Completion of a Master's degree required.
  • Demonstrated expertise as a Nurse Practitioner preferred.
  • Up to five (5) years of relevant experience; including three (3) years of experience working in the malignant hematology preferred.
  • Certification in Oncology Nursing preferred or commitment to obtain certification when eligible.
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support required.
  • Commitment to collaborative practice.
  • Experience in nursing research methodology an asset.
  • Eligible for cross-appointment to an academic institution.
  • Evidence of professional malpractice insurance.
  • Membership in the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology (CANO) and other organizations relevant to the role preferred.
  • Knowledge of data management programs an asset.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and customer services skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent decision making, problem recognition and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
