We are currently seeking a skilled individual to join our Finishing Department as a Gluer Machine Operator. This role is crucial for the setup and maintenance of folder/gluer machinery and processes necessary for producing high-quality folding cartons.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure product quality and production efficiency.
- Execute jobs according to customer specifications.
- Perform and comprehend make-ready procedures, including the general setup of the folder/gluer machine.
- Adjust machinery to accommodate various carton styles.
- Maintain machinery at optimal operating speeds.
- Monitor automatic feeding, folding, and gluing processes to identify machine malfunctions.
- Diagnose and rectify malfunctions as they arise.
- Conduct minor maintenance, troubleshooting, calibrations, adjustments, repairs, and authorized modifications on equipment.
- Oversee quality control of all gluing processes, including carton alignment, glue adhesion, and proper folding.
- Keep accurate records of production and quality metrics.
- Lead crew members operating machinery, ensuring efficiency and safety.
- Communicate essential information to facilitate smooth production flow.
- Perform general cleanup duties.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in the English language, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment.
- At least 3 years of prior experience operating industrial machinery, preferably in a gluing capacity.
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with troubleshooting skills.
- Proficient in the use of hand and power tools for repairs.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Fundamental math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Availability for a weekly rotation shift schedule.
- Familiarity with and adherence to company safety policies and relevant legislation.
- Respect for individuals, the organization, authority, the community, and the team.
