We are seeking an experienced Accounting Director to join our team at Habitat for Humanity New Brunswick in Fredericton. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for maintaining the financial stability and management of our non-profit charitable organization.
Key Responsibilities- Financial Reporting: Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements to the board of directors, including monthly financial reports and annual budget/forecast updates.
- Accounting and Bookkeeping: Maintain the chart of accounts in QuickBooks, process payroll, code and track supplier invoices, and record cash receipts and make bank deposits.
- Financial Analysis: Calculate variances from the budget, prepare financial analysis of financial statements, and conduct monthly reconciliations of bank accounts.
- Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements, and maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
- Financial Planning and Budgeting: Assist in the preparation and update of the annual budget/forecast, and track sales taxes paid and report to government for charitable status rebate.
- Donation and Fundraising: Record and issue tax receipts for all donations, and assist in financial reporting to funding partners.
- Education and Experience: Accounting designation and/or Business degree with accounting major, and at least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and suite of Office applications.
- Business Acumen: Strong financial acumen, understanding of retail business financial processes, real estate financial transaction knowledge, and charitable sector tax and reporting processes.
