Job Summary

Urban Impact Recycling Ltd. is seeking a skilled Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician to join our team. As a Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing heavy-duty equipment, including trucks and industrial machinery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and Inspect Equipment: Use computerized and other testing equipment to detect faults and malfunctions in heavy-duty equipment.
  • Diagnose and Repair Faults: Diagnose faults or malfunctions and repair or replace defective parts as needed.
  • Order Parts and Maintain Inventory: Order parts and maintain inventory of necessary supplies.
  • Adjust and Repair Equipment: Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts.
  • Keep Maintenance Reports: Keep accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
  • Test Repaired Equipment: Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
  • Clean and Maintain Equipment: Clean, lubricate, and perform other maintenance work on heavy-duty equipment.
Specializations
  • Diesel Engine Repair: Repair and maintain diesel engines, including fuel injection systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems, air conditioning systems, lubrication systems, and engine control systems.
  • Powered Equipment Repair: Repair and maintain industrial lift trucks and fork-lifts.
  • Mechanical Maintenance and Repair: Repair and maintain mechanical transmissions, drive trains, final drives, hydraulic transmissions, and other mechanical systems.
Requirements
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required.
  • Experience: 5 years or more of experience in heavy-duty equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Physical Demands: Physically demanding work environment, requiring attention to detail, bending, crouching, kneeling, hand-eye coordination, and handling heavy loads.
  • Weight Handling: Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • Personal Suitability: Accurate, client-focused, dependable, excellent oral communication, and flexibility.
