The Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) serving as the Foot Care Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the Foot Care services provided to clients in both community and facility environments adhere to established legislation and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee a dedicated team of Foot Care Nurses, ensuring the delivery of high-quality Foot Care services in both facility and home environments.
- Evaluate client requirements, develop care plans, and monitor progress towards health outcomes.
- Identify the educational needs of staff and collaborate with Human Resources and other specialists to create relevant training content.
- Inspire, guide, and mentor staff to uphold exceptional care standards that align with organizational expectations.
- Directly supervise Foot Care Nurses, conducting performance evaluations and managing disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Address and document all client concerns and complaints promptly and effectively.
- Facilitate regular team meetings with Foot Care Nurses to discuss program updates and address any issues.
- Work in conjunction with the Foot Care Coordinator to manage the scheduling of Foot Care Nurses and oversee facility schedules.
- Conduct inventory assessments of Foot Care supplies and place orders as needed.
- Support Foot Care Nurses in clinical or private settings when appropriate.
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Possession of Basic, Advanced, and Diabetes Foot Care Certificates.
- Familiarity with the CNO Foot Care Guidelines and RNAO Foot Care Best Practice Guidelines.
- A minimum of three years of experience in a supervisory role, ideally within a community setting.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to manage challenging situations in a consistent and objective manner.
- A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle, as local travel is essential for regular contact with Foot Care Nurses and client service delivery.
- Comprehensive knowledge of community nursing principles, practices, and methods, alongside experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
