Job Summary

The Industrial Control Technician will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of electronic control systems on production equipment and auxiliary systems. This role will participate in the analysis of continuous improvements and provide technical support to production teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance to production teams, training users on the optimal use of existing equipment.
  • Conduct continuous improvement projects to enhance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and overall efficiency.
  • Maintain all technical documentation related to equipment and systems, including schematics, work instructions, and manuals.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and report in the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system.
  • Conduct daily system inspections to ensure electrical components are functioning correctly.
  • Communicate regularly with the Maintenance Purchasing Specialist on electrical parts in inventory.
  • Submit daily reports to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Participate in conferences and training to increase knowledge and skills.
  • Provide technical support for existing drive systems, troubleshoot, and repair machine breakdowns.
  • Provide training to Maintenance Mechanics to enhance troubleshooting skills.
  • Support the upgrade of obsolete Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems and Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) motor drives to newer technologies.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Work Instructions, and Food Safety Quality System (SQF) requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in PLC programming and a degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent certification.
  • 309A or 442A certification is required.
  • Working knowledge of Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs/controls/protocols platforms.
  • Proficient troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of VFD motors and motor controllers.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports for documenting issues and changes to equipment.
  • Ability to implement changes and improvements.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technology.
