Position Overview

We are currently seeking skilled individuals for the role of:

Grinding Operator
Location: Hawkesbury, Ontario

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute a series of operations under the general supervision of the Production Supervisor.
  • Grind wheels or utilize belt grinding techniques on non-metallic materials, including rubber, polyurethane, and fiberglass.
  • Conduct inspections of journals for any score marks or damage, reporting findings to the supervisor.
  • Maintain cleanliness of babbitt posts.
  • Ensure that the supporting surface is round and concentric with the bearing surface.
  • Position and secure cylinders using universal joints and steady rests.
  • Align and level rolls accurately.
  • Verify that all specifications on work orders correspond with rolls and/or blueprints.
  • Determine the appropriate grinding wheel or belt for each task.
  • Program crown adjustments as necessary.
  • Remove nylon binders when applicable.
  • Engage the work feed mechanism.
  • Adjust control settings to manage depth of removal, grinding speed, and feed rates.

Candidate Profile

  • Previous experience is not mandatory, though operator experience is advantageous.
  • Candidates should possess mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic computer skills are essential for data entry and machine programming.
  • A motivated individual with a strong focus on quality and safety is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the imperial measurement system is beneficial.
  • Availability for rotating shifts, including day and afternoon shifts, is required.
  • A pre-hire medical examination is part of the hiring process.
