Job Title: Health and Safety Advisor

At Secure Energy, we are seeking an experienced Field HSE Advisor to support our operations in the Fort McMurray, Alberta region.

Job Purpose:

The successful candidate will provide guidance and direction to all site workers, including project management, employees, and subcontractors, with respect to corporate and client safety policies, practices, procedures, and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct worksite inspections and audits, and follow through with appropriate levels of coaching and support for all corrective actions.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and hazardous conditions, and complete incident analysis, develop, implement, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Participate in toolbox meetings, weekly safety meetings, and client and HSE team meetings as required.
  • Assist in creating Job Safety Analysis and perform updates as conditions and processes change.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current OH&S legislation, Federal and Provincial laws, as well as company standards and policies.
  • Provide mentoring to workers and leaders in maintaining safe work habits and practices.
  • Proactively identifies leading indicators and trends in the field and communicates the same back to the field and corporate.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years in a prior Field HSE Advisor role.
  • Experienced working for large ongoing Oilsands projects is an asset.
  • HSE diploma/certificate, National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation, Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) or Professional (CRSP) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of related Occupational Health & Safety legislation as well as Environmental and Transportation regulations.
  • Valid Class 5 license with drivers abstract that is acceptable under the SECURE Driver Evaluation program.
  • Effective/competent Microsoft Office 365 application user (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
