The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Director, Communications and Marketing to join our team at WSP Canada. As a key member of our Transportation Systems team, you will play a critical role in implementing engagement strategies and achieving social acceptance of our major projects.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, External Relations, you will be responsible for defining public affairs, communications, and marketing strategies to support social acceptance and regulatory filings. You will also ensure team and plan alignment with business objectives, preserve the reputation of WSP and its partners, and develop and maintain good relationships with project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement communications strategies to support project objectives
  • Manage media relations and generate media opportunities to maximize local and national coverage
  • Advise clients and proponents on strategic positioning, public communications, and crisis management
  • Establish and maintain an effective crisis management process
  • Implement best practices and tools to optimize communications functions

Requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English and French
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in communications, marketing, media relations, social media, public affairs, and crisis management
  • Strategic mindset with experience working with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple urgent files simultaneously and adapt to a changing environment
  • High degree of autonomy, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize
