As an Operating Manager - Capital Projects and Insurance Claims, you will play a key role in promoting community development and creating opportunities for people to engage in activities that promote well-being and social inclusion.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical advice to senior management, procurement services, and property services. This will include project management of capital projects and insurance claims, as well as supervising maintenance staff and coordinating and scheduling contractors to complete maintenance and specialized maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice to senior management, procurement services, and property services
  • Project manage capital projects and insurance claims
  • Supervise maintenance staff
  • Coordinate and schedule contractors to complete maintenance and specialized maintenance
  • Ensure efficient and safe installation of equipment with minimum disruption to commercial and residential tenants

Requirements

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate in commercial construction or a related field
  • Experience coordinating and planning all phases of construction and facility-related projects
  • Ability to supervise and lead staff
  • Experience reviewing construction documentation and interpreting sketches and as-built drawings
  • Experience providing customer service to a diverse range of client groups
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage, prioritize, and meet competing deadlines
  • Effective verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of clients
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to prepare written correspondence
  • Knowledge of current Building Codes, legislation, and industry best practice related to Green construction practices
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain client engagement and ensure effective participation
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)

Desirable Qualifications

  • Design experience, including experience with computer-assisted drafting software (AutoCAD)
