Position OverviewThe role of the Bridge CAD Technician involves collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to assist the Bridge Engineering Group as a CAD Operator and Detailer. You will work on projects related to the design and construction of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other transportation structures, utilizing the latest CAD and civil design software.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop digital drawings for the planning, design, and construction of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other transportation structures, adhering to CAD design standards and client specifications.
- Interpret design sketches, implement revisions, and assist in gathering and interpreting construction records and as-built drawings.
- Collaborate with Structural Engineers specializing in Bridge and Infrastructure projects.
- Coordinate with various disciplines, including transportation, municipal, and traffic management, throughout the planning, engineering, design, construction, and post-construction phases.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and calculations.
- Support the preparation of project proposals.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Civil Engineering or Architectural Science from an accredited institution.
- Membership in OACETT as a Certified Engineering Technician or Certified Technologist is an asset.
- 3-5 years of experience in CAD work related to Bridges or Structural projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with Civil 3D, Revit, or SketchUp is preferred.
- Knowledge of MS Office 365 and SharePoint environments.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team setting.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
