Intern in Energy Project Engineering

YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY:
As a key member of the Energy Department, reporting to the Manager of Regional Finance & Strategy, you will engage in providing engineering assistance on pivotal energy initiatives. Your role will encompass supporting energy conservation projects, developing energy management strategies, conducting energy cost analysis, and preparing funding applications specifically for the Ontario Region. Additionally, you will lend your expertise to the company's operations at Detour Lake and Macassa mines, ensuring alignment with Agnico Eagle's core values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and environmental stewardship.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Developing and assessing financial models for strategic energy initiatives while delivering discounted cash flow metrics;
- Evaluating technical and financial assumptions for projects;
- Reviewing energy capital projects related to AFEs and budget considerations;
- Compiling data necessary for energy management strategies;
- Assisting in energy conservation initiatives;
- Contributing to the technical evaluation and design of energy projects;
- Maintaining and monitoring cost models related to electricity, diesel, and carbon taxation;
- Collaborating with experts across operations, engineering, and finance;
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS:
- A Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline pertinent to the mining sector;
- Experience in operations, project engineering, or financial modeling within the mining industry;
- One to two years of relevant experience or internships in the mining sector, consulting, or energy-intensive industries;
- Experience with energy efficiency or carbon reduction projects in previous roles or academic settings;
- Strong technical writing skills;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
