Location: Marine Institute, Stephenville
Employment Type: Permanent Full Time
ROLE SUMMARY
The selected candidate will facilitate both theoretical and practical training sessions in various certification programs, including NFPA Certification courses, Industrial training, and Marine Emergency Response courses, adhering to the Integrated Management System and relevant governing standards. Instruction will primarily occur at the SERT-C facility, with occasional travel to diverse locations within the region.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver comprehensive classroom instruction followed by practical demonstrations in firefighting, industrial safety, and emergency response.
- Assist in marine survival training, conducting practical exercises in controlled environments.
- Oversee practical exercises, ensuring adherence to life safety protocols and risk management practices.
- Perform administrative tasks, including maintenance and inspections, course development, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Engage in other related duties as required, ensuring a thorough understanding of roles and responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must possess a minimum of six years of relevant experience in firefighting or emergency response, along with essential NFPA certifications such as NFPA 1001 Level 2, NFPA 1041, NFPA 1021, and NFPA 1002. A college-level certification in the emergency response field or an equivalent qualification is required. Candidates should also hold a valid industry medical certificate and demonstrate proficiency in aquatic environments. Preference will be given to those with advanced education, relevant industry certifications, prior teaching experience, and additional qualifications. Certifications from recognized organizations such as St. John Ambulance or Red Cross for first aid training, as well as NFPA 1081 and GWO certifications, are considered advantageous.
SALARY: Commensurate with the Marine Institute Instructors' Collective Agreement.
