About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Family Law Clerk to join our team at Kent Legal. As a Family Law Clerk, you will play a critical role in supporting our lawyers in a busy family law practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist lawyers in completing sworn financial statements
  • Draft court orders and coordinate court dates
  • Assist in trial preparation and liaise professionally with lawyers, clients, courts, and process servers
  • Open, close, and maintain legal files
  • Prepare drafts of correspondence, including letters to counsel, courts, and third-party professionals
  • Docket time in PC Law and maintain accurate billing records
  • Arrange for filing and service of documents
  • Draft and prepare divorce applications, affidavits, motion materials, minutes of settlement, and other related documents
  • Manage timelines and bring-forward system
  • Assist with additional duties as needed
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 2+ years of experience as a Family Law Clerk
  • Legal Assistant or Law Clerk diploma from an accredited institution
  • Comprehensive experience with Divorce Mate and PC Law
  • Knowledge of Family Law Rules and Practice Directions
  • Intermediate experience researching case law will be considered an asset
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Demonstrative analytical skills, good judgment, and a high attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills
