Job Title: Tax Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Manager to join our team at HR Performance & Results. As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for assisting clients and team members with complex taxation matters, communicating with clients and outside professionals, and reviewing and finalizing tax returns.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist clients with complex taxation matters, including personal, trust, and corporate tax returns.
  • Communicate directly with clients and outside professionals on tax work being conducted at the Firm.
  • Review and finalize tax returns, including special elections and other tax filings.
  • Prepare and review research memos to support opinions on sophisticated tax matters.
  • Identify planning opportunities, including corporate reorganizations and compensation planning.
  • Plan and implement corporate reorganization work for clients.
  • Review and provide feedback on legal instruction letters prepared by the Tax Department.
  • Participate or lead client meetings regarding tax transactions.
  • Prepare quotes or estimates of fees for certain tax engagements.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Holds CPA designation.
  • Successful completion of the CPA Canada In-depth Tax Course or working towards it.
  • Minimum of 5 years of tax experience in a Public Accounting Firm.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and client service and relationship building skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to provide direction to team members.
  • Excellent attention to detail skills with the ability to ensure the accuracy of pertinent financial and tax information.
  • Ability to work independently as well as cohesively with a team.
  • Must possess a high level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to multitask.
