Position Overview

Reporting to the Charge Medical Technologist, the General Duty Medical Technologist (Cross Trained) performs a range of duties aligned with their training and experience. This role contributes to patient care and provides technical, administrative, and operational support within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. The incumbent ensures a safe environment adhering to professional and provincial guidelines, upholding quality assurance programs, and maintaining standards set by Accreditation. All functions are conducted in accordance with Shared Health's Mission and Values, current policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.

Experience

  • Previous related experience is preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Graduate of an approved Medical Radiography program with attained certification by CAMRT - OR.
  • Graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory Technology program with attained certification by CSMLS.
  • Graduate of an approved Laboratory or Radiology Assistant Program.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Imaging Technology Program, eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (C.A.M.R.T.) and registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (C.A.M.R.T.) within three months of hire.
  • Must maintain current licensing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Manitoba (CMLTM).

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficiency in a Windows computer environment is required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs is preferred.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions precisely with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills in English are essential.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, enabling the establishment and maintenance of positive working relationships within a multidisciplinary team environment and with external agencies, groups, and the public.
  • Proficient analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality with all information entrusted to the position.
  • Fluency in both French and English (written and oral) may be required.
