Position Overview
The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is looking for a temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE) Project Management Specialist to lead initiatives in the Mass Timber and Offsite Construction sectors.

This role is pivotal in spearheading projects aimed at developing educational programs and pilot initiatives that cater to both entry-level training and the upskilling of professionals in the mass timber and offsite construction fields.

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a diverse team of professionals to pinpoint training needs and implement enhancements within existing BCIT offerings.
- Assess curriculum training deficiencies and propose effective solutions.
- Formulate project plans, allocate resources, and oversee project timelines from inception to completion.
- Draft project objectives and deliverables, along with a strategic proposal for actions aligned with the School's mission and goals.
- Secure approval for project proposals from management and relevant stakeholders.

Project Management
- In partnership with the Manager, devise a comprehensive project strategy to meet the established objectives.
- Drive projects to fulfill the defined goals and deliverables, monitoring progress and addressing challenges with leadership and stakeholders.
- Conduct a thorough inventory of the School's courses and programs to identify existing training and gaps in relation to Mass Timber Construction and industry skill requirements.
- Gather insights through industry surveys and BCIT initiatives, performing a needs analysis to identify training gaps in Mass Timber and Off-Site Construction.

Reporting and Recommendations
- Present regular updates on project status to the Manager, working group, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare detailed project progress reports and final technical documentation as necessary.
- Develop actionable recommendations to address critical educational needs within the sector, validating the demand for training in Installation, Manufacturing, and relevant Design considerations.

Stakeholder Engagement
- Establish and nurture effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including the School's Dean, Associate Dean, BCIT personnel, external consultants, and industry partners, to stay informed about industry needs, skill gaps, and developments.

Industry Awareness
- Stay updated on current industry trends and provide insights on emerging issues and opportunities within the mass timber and on-site construction sectors, enabling the School to capitalize on new prospects.

Qualifications
- A Master's degree in engineering, architecture, science, project management, or a related field.
- A minimum of seven years of relevant experience, including post-secondary teaching, private sector involvement, and supervisory roles, preferably in wood science, mass timber, and/or off-site construction.
- Proven ability to manage projects within complex frameworks and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
