Overview
The Production Mill Assistant at Holcim is responsible for a variety of tasks that include maintaining cleanliness, operating both stationary and mobile machinery utilized in aggregate production, as well as performing routine maintenance and repairs as instructed.
We offer competitive compensation based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits and pension plan after a probationary period. This role may involve split shifts, with hours ranging from early morning to late evening, including potential overtime and weekend work as necessary.
Responsibilities
Safety:
Foster a culture of safety by engaging with team members, safety committees, subcontractors, and suppliers, while implementing and upholding local and regional safety initiatives aimed at achieving zero incidents. Advocate for safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all Holcim and regulatory standards. Maintain a safe, clean, and functional work environment, demonstrating knowledge of safety protocols and emergency procedures.Equipment Operation:
Execute cleanup tasks using skid steers and hand tools, ensuring safety around moving machinery while wearing the required personal protective equipment. Conduct pre-operational inspections and operate assigned mobile equipment as per training and directives.Environmental Stewardship:
Ensure compliance with Holcim and regulatory environmental standards. Remain vigilant regarding environmentally sensitive areas and proactively address any environmental issues that may arise in the designated work zone.Maintenance Duties:
Collaborate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and management. Participate in daily inspections as part of the preventative maintenance strategy. Assist in troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning equipment. Support plant maintenance efforts as required. Work at heights when necessary.Additional Responsibilities:
Undertake other tasks as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the facility.Dependability:
Adhere to instructions, work collaboratively within a team, and respond to supervisory guidance.Safety Commitment:
Comply with all applicable occupational health and safety regulations. Utilize all required personal protective equipment. Follow Holcim's safety rules, policies, and procedures diligently. Report all incidents, near misses, and safety concerns to the supervisor. Adhere to lockout/tagout procedures and be aware of emergency response protocols.Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Completion of secondary education or equivalent. Experience in an industrial or mining environment is advantageous. Heavy equipment operation experience is beneficial. Basic welding and fitting skills are preferred but not mandatory.Skills & Knowledge:
Training in specific mobile equipment operation. Mechanical aptitude is essential. Proficiency in computer usage is an asset. Strong written and verbal communication skills.Competency Profile:
Action-oriented with strong delegation skills. Effective organizational and listening abilities. Proficient in priority setting and problem-solving. Capable of process management and time management. Competent in written communications.Working Conditions:
Outdoor work in varying temperatures and weather conditions. Indoor work in diverse environments (e.g., hot, noisy, dusty). Availability for rotating shifts, overtime, and weekend work as needed. Mobility throughout the plant is required, including the use of stairs and ladders. Regular bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting of items up to 50 lbs.
