Position Overview

The successful candidate will be tasked with the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of aquatic programs and services, ensuring adherence to rigorous safety standards while catering to the diverse needs of the community.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Aquatics Manager, the chosen individual will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining a secure aquatic environment for both patrons and staff, in line with relevant regulations and policies.
  • Recruiting, training, supervising, and mentoring both part-time and full-time personnel.
  • Creating innovative programming tailored to meet the needs of a varied demographic.
  • Conducting regular audits to verify compliance with established standards.
  • Collaborating with community organizations, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities.
  • Designing and implementing comprehensive aquatic programs and special events in partnership with the facility team.
  • Promoting community engagement in programming and facility usage.
  • Continuously assessing and refining existing programs.
  • Addressing customer complaints promptly and effectively, ensuring satisfaction through sound judgment and communication skills.
  • Responding to the requirements of community swim clubs and pool rental clients.
  • Providing leadership for outdoor pool operations or satellite facilities, as necessary.
  • Monitoring, preparing, and approving part-time payroll while generating necessary reports.
  • Participating in the building supervisory team, assisting in the overall management of the facility, programs, and staff.
  • Preparing for, responding to, and following up on incidents within the facility.
  • Monitoring budget allocations and offering recommendations for future forecasts.
  • Ensuring high standards of cleanliness within the facility.
  • Engaging in business unit, divisional, and departmental teams for various projects.
  • Performing additional related duties as assigned.
  • Note: Flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends, is essential for program oversight and facility coverage. The successful candidate should be prepared for potential mobility across various locations to address staffing needs and operational requirements.
Qualifications and Skills
  • A degree or diploma in Recreation or a related field, complemented by a minimum of three years of experience in an aquatic environment.
  • At least five years of progressive supervisory experience.
  • Proven ability to foster effective working relationships and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • A self-motivated individual with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to thrive in a dynamic team setting, with a genuine interest in expanding professional expertise.
  • Willingness to travel between various locations as required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and CLASS software is mandatory; knowledge of SAP is advantageous.
  • Essential certifications include:
    • Standard First Aid/CPR-C from recognized agencies.
    • National Lifeguard Award.
    • Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor and Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor certifications.
    • High Five - PHCD and Quest 2.
    • Aquatic Supervisory Training or Aquatic Management Training.
  • Preferred certifications include:
    • NL Instructor, Lifesaving Society First Aid Instructor, Lifesaving Society Instructor Trainer, Bronze Cross Examiner, and Lifesaving Society Advanced Instructor certifications.
    • Professional training in aquatic fitness, aquatic post-rehabilitation, older adult programming, or related services.
    • Certified Pool Operator.
    • Aquatic Safety Inspector.

Compensation: $86, $115,812.00
