Data Protection Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Protection Specialist to join our team at Bombardier. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our data.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive data protection program that aligns with global regulations and industry best practices.
- Act as the primary point of contact for data protection-related queries and provide expert guidance to stakeholders.
- Oversee the continuous adherence to our data protection program, policies, and best practices, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Design and deliver training programs to raise awareness of data protection and privacy issues among internal teams.
- Coordinate responses to privacy incidents and breaches, internal audits, investigations, and interactions with local data protection authorities, as required.
- Process requests for access to personal information from interested individuals.
- Advise on the keeping of certain records of processing activities.
- Perform activities related to privacy impact assessments and vendor due diligence.
- Measure and monitor the effectiveness of tools and processes to drive compliance and recommend improvements.
- 7-10 years of experience in a data privacy or compliance role for a multinational or in private practice in a reputable law firm.
- Law degree and membership in the Quebec or Ontario Bar, or a degree in another business-related discipline (e.g., IT) combined with relevant experience.
- Good knowledge of global data privacy laws and the ability to interpret and apply such laws in Quebec, the U.S., and Europe (GDPR).
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or similar certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) or other reputable professional association.
- Experience with privacy breach incident response and privacy impact assessments.
- Ability to reconcile compliance requirements with practical business needs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in both French and English.
- Proven team player with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage large projects.
- Solid knowledge of various IT applications, such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines and ability to work independently.
- Occasional travel may be required.
