Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Assistant II to join our team at Northern Health Authority. As a key member of our laboratory department, you will be responsible for performing specimen collection, preparation, and testing, as well as providing clerical and other laboratory support functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform inpatient and/or outpatient Electrocardiogram (ECG) testing, and/or Holter monitor testing as required, and explain test procedures to patients.
  • Conduct routine equipment cleaning and maintenance to ensure optimal laboratory operations.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely test results.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, and ensure compliance with laboratory policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Lab Assistant training program, and one (1) year's recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to type at 25 wpm.
