Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant II to join our team at Northern Health Authority. As a Laboratory Assistant II, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical laboratory team by performing specimen collection, preparation, and testing, as well as performing related clerical and other laboratory support functions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform specimen collection, preparation, and testing under the supervision of the Chief Technologist or designate.
• Conduct inpatient and/or outpatient Electrocardiogram (ECG) testing, and/or Holter monitor testing as required, and explain test procedures to patients.
• Perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance to ensure a safe and efficient laboratory environment.

Requirements:

• Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Lab Assistant training program plus one (1) year's recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
• Ability to type at 25 wpm.
