Position: Intermediate Group Underwriting Specialist Department: Group Underwriting Employment Type: Full Time Permanent Location: Remote across Canada Compensation: Competitive Salary Reports To: Manager
As an Intermediate Group Underwriting Specialist, you will collaborate with the Group Underwriting team to ensure Medavie Blue Cross meets its financial objectives in the group health, life, and disability income sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish renewal pricing through analysis of experience and trends to justify renewal decisions and recommend pricing alternatives. This includes addressing client inquiries related to pricing and experience.
- Set rates for new group business and respond to financial inquiries within established specifications.
- Prepare financial statements for ASO and Retention groups in accordance with financial agreements.
- Draft and revise financial agreements as necessary.
- Ensure underwriting targets are achieved for growth and profitability.
- Develop and maintain direct relationships with clients and producers.
- Engage continuously with internal sales staff and other internal stakeholders (e.g., Case Management, Group Admin), as well as the agent/broker/consultant network and policyholders.
Qualifications:
- Education: Post-secondary education.
- Experience: A minimum of four years in Group Underwriting.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
- Language Skills: Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset.
