Role OverviewUnder the guidance of the Patient Care Manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in delivering professional nursing care to assigned patients. This includes:
- Providing independent nursing services and administering prescribed treatments.
- Collaborating effectively with the healthcare team.
- Participating in the coordination of patient care and discharge processes.
The LPN is expected to uphold the vision, values, and objectives of the organization.
Experience Requirements- Recent experience in a relevant clinical setting is preferred.
- Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program is required.
- Certification in IV Therapy and IV Medication Administration is necessary.
- Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM) is mandatory.
- CPR training must meet the employer's policy standards.
- Knowledge of:
- Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Licensed Practical Nurses.
- Scope of practice as defined in the Licensed Practical Nurses Act.
- Policies and procedures relevant to the clinical environment.
- Legislative acts related to health information and safety.
- Roles within the healthcare team and principles of delegation.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Preference for candidates with Indigenous language skills or knowledge of Indigenous cultures.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Capacity to prioritize and manage care for multiple patients.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Adaptability to changing circumstances and demands.
- Proficiency in computer applications relevant to healthcare.
- Moderate to heavy physical activity is required.
- Availability for rotating shifts and weekend work may be necessary.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as part of the employment conditions. The successful candidate will be responsible for any associated service fees.
