As a pivotal member of the Alberta Health Services team, the Clinical Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily clinical functions of addiction services. Reporting directly to the Area 7 Manager, this leadership position is essential for coordinating and facilitating the daily operations of the service, ensuring optimal resource utilization.

Key Responsibilities:

In this capacity, you will:

  • Provide guidance and supervision to an interdisciplinary team, fostering professional growth and ensuring the achievement of service objectives.
  • Engage in the evaluation of staff performance, offering coaching and support to enhance their professional development.
  • Take a comprehensive approach to operations and client service delivery, addressing issues that may affect service quality.
  • Recommend policies and develop procedures to enhance service delivery at the site level.
  • Contribute to the monitoring and development of the operational plan, as well as quality assurance and risk management initiatives.
  • Participate in program and community development efforts.

Clinical Supervision Role:

As a Clinical Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing clinical oversight within a specific discipline or service area. Your role will involve:

  • Supervising staff who deliver addiction and mental health services to individuals, families, and groups.
  • Conducting assessments and providing psychosocial and psychological interventions.
  • Offering support and guidance to clinical staff dealing with complex and urgent cases.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary team members, psychiatrists, and community partners to promote effective practice.
  • Identifying and addressing gaps in clinical practice and system-level issues.
  • Assisting in the recruitment, orientation, and performance evaluation of clinical personnel.

Required Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • Extensive knowledge of addiction and mental health issues.
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Outlook, MS Office, MS Teams, Zoom, and Connect Care.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in addiction and mental health treatment.
  • A minimum of 5 years of supervisory and mentoring experience.
  • Expertise in Motivational Interviewing and direct clinical supervision.
  • A background in counseling along with strong leadership skills.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think independently.
  • Effective communication and crisis intervention skills to support frontline staff.
