Position Overview

Reporting to the Senior Department Manager/Structural Division Manager, the Structural Engineering Specialist will deliver expertise for civil infrastructure projects, encompassing buildings, ports, harbours, and bridges. Your role will involve overseeing project management of ongoing initiatives, which includes scheduling and budgeting. Within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment, you will be tasked with developing cost-effective engineering designs and construction solutions for clients. Your expertise will be crucial in guiding these projects from inception to completion, ensuring meticulous attention to detail throughout.

Key Responsibilities:

Guaranteeing the smooth design, thorough documentation, and successful execution of engineering projects. Making informed, independent decisions and applying effective work methodologies and procedures. Drafting proposals and reports. Managing Structural Engineering projects, including financial oversight, project management, and client relationship management. Analyzing complex data to derive conclusive insights, guiding strategic project directions and optimizations. Developing innovative, practical, and cost-effective solutions to complex engineering challenges. Playing a key role in ensuring the technical integrity and quality of engineering designs. Supervising and mentoring a team of technicians involved in the preparation of detailed working drawings. Upholding a client-focused approach, prioritizing excellence in customer service.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Structural Engineer or equivalent; experience in Marine Engineering is an asset. On the path to registration or currently registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.). Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or a related field. Demonstrated project management and technical skills. Familiarity with design software such as SAFI, Structure Point, WoodWorks, and Microsoft is an asset. Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
