We are seeking a skilled Recreation Therapist to join our interdisciplinary team at Nova Scotia Health. As a Recreation Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing a diverse range of interventions to clients and their families, enabling them to achieve their optimal level of functioning and health.

Using therapeutic intervention, you will promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social functioning of patients, and develop treatment plans to improve leisure opportunities and resources. Your primary role will be to assess and provide treatment plans, leveraging your expertise to enhance patient well-being, independence, and quality of life.

As an integral member of our team, you will be involved in quality improvement and evaluation activities to support continuous improvements in the provision of Therapeutic Recreation Services. Your contributions will positively impact inter-professional team functioning for excellence in client care.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a Baccalaureate degree in Recreation or Leisure Studies with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation, and certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist with NCTRC. Experience working with various populations/disability groups is preferred, as is knowledge of leisure/recreation assessments, leisure education, and leisure counseling processes.

You should possess effective counseling and verbal/written communication skills, as well as the ability to set priorities and work independently. Demonstrated ability to establish and promote good interpersonal relationships, select suitable activities, and work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team is essential.

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent, full-time position with a salary of $42.01 hourly. The successful candidate will work 75 hours biweekly.
