As a key member of our team at Qualico Canada, the Site Superintendent will play a critical role in ensuring the successful completion of residential construction projects. Reporting to the Field Operations Manager, this individual will be responsible for directing and overseeing on-site construction activities, ensuring that all work meets the highest standards of quality, budget, and schedule.
Key Responsibilities- Project Management: The Site Superintendent will be responsible for communicating with trade partners and suppliers to schedule the delivery and installation of materials and labor, inspecting work to ensure it meets Qualico's standards and all building and safety code requirements.
- Problem-Solving: This individual will interpret plans and specifications, solve problems, and communicate errors, discrepancies, or questions to the project management team.
- Team Leadership: The Site Superintendent will supervise, develop, and provide guidance to on-site team members, managing daily tasks and ensuring clear direction is given and work is carried out in a safe manner.
- Safety Management: This individual will ensure adherence to Qualico's Safety Program and relevant safety legislation, performing site safety orientations, leading regular safety meetings, and completing required reporting.
- Customer Service: The Site Superintendent will meet with customers prior to possession to thoroughly inspect homes and effectively respond to inquiries or concerns, ensuring delivery of excellent customer service.
- Project Scheduling: This individual will maintain project schedules, complete regular progress reports, and provide to the project management team.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of site superintendent experience in residential construction industry.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of building codes and requirements.
- Skills: Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle, comfortable using office equipment, Microsoft Office programs, and construction management software.
- Physical Demands: Physically able to carry out basic construction duties.
- Certifications: Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.
- Experience with homeowner walk-throughs and key releases is an asset.
- Creating trusting and successful working relationships.
- Setting clear, measurable, and achievable goals.
- Cooperating with team members in an open, positive, and respectful manner.
- Staying current with technical job skills.
- Consistently meeting customer expectations.
- Taking responsibility for the outcomes of decisions and actions.
This role primarily works on-site during regular business hours, with exposure to noise from equipment/machinery and occupational hazards, as well as dealing with inclement weather and dust. Travel to the regional office or other site locations and overtime may occasionally be required.
