Employment Classification: Bilingual Educational Assistant 1 (EA1) - MUST BE BILINGUAL (FRENCH & ENGLISH)

Hours: 6 hours per day

Position Overview:

The Bilingual Educational Assistant 1 (EA1) plays a vital role in fostering an inclusive educational environment within Pembina Trails School Division. Under the guidance of school leadership and in collaboration with various professionals, the Educational Assistant supports students with diverse learning needs and abilities, enhancing their engagement and participation in the academic setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhering to established school protocols, including classroom management and student conduct guidelines.
  • Assisting students facing behavioral and learning challenges.
  • Providing academic support in various settings, including whole class, small group, and one-on-one.
  • Implementing tailored or modified educational programs under the supervision of the classroom and resource teachers.
  • Documenting individual student progress and program effectiveness.
  • Offering assistance to students with complex educational requirements.
  • Overseeing student activities during recess and lunch periods.
  • Supporting and supervising aquatic programs.
  • Administering medication as specified in the student's individualized plan.
  • Facilitating student participation in community-based initiatives.
  • Addressing students' emotional, behavioral, and physical needs.
  • Demonstrating flexibility in adapting to the diverse educational needs of students.
  • Utilizing augmentative and alternative communication methods.
  • Assisting with the transportation of students between educational locations.
  • Supporting students during meal times, which may include:
    • Monitoring students during lunch.
    • Providing assistance with oral feeding and ensuring safety protocols are followed.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
