Position Overview:
The Oncology Nurse is tasked with delivering holistic cancer care to patients throughout their oncology journey. This includes assessment, intervention, treatment administration, care coordination, and follow-up in an outpatient setting. The role involves engaging in patient and family education, conducting essential nursing assessments, collaborating with a multidisciplinary care team, and implementing suitable interventions. Nursing staff regularly handle cytotoxic and hazardous medications, with personal protective equipment (PPE) and training provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive cancer care to patients.
- Conduct thorough assessments and collaborate with the healthcare team.
- Administer treatments and coordinate care effectively.
- Educate patients and families about their care and treatment options.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) or eligibility within 6 weeks.
- Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as per applicable policies.
- Familiarity with the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics and the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
- Proficient in computer applications, including MS Windows, Word, and Outlook.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Nursing degree.
- A minimum of three years of experience in medical/surgical or ambulatory care settings.
- Knowledge and experience in oncology care.
- Experience with electronic health records.
- Ability to communicate in French.
Assets:
- Certification as a Certified Oncology Nurse (CON(C)).
- Experience in wound care and radiation therapy.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and leadership.

- Ability to manage multiple demands and adapt to changing situations.
- Capability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
