Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at Queens Park Care Centre (QPCC) in New Westminster. This is a temporary part-time opportunity that will support our long-term care services. The successful candidate will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to our patients and residents.

Responsibilities
  1. Assess patients', residents', and clients' physical and functional status, develop appropriate healthcare plans, and provide required interventions.
  2. Attend patient/resident/client care conferences and family meetings, presenting information related to occupational therapy assessments and recommending related interventions.
  3. Record, maintain, and update patient/resident/client records, including assessments, interventions, and statistical data.
  4. Participate in orientation and in-service training of staff, students, and volunteers on topics such as mechanical lifts, positioning, and back care.
  5. Identify and recommend procedures, purchases, maintenance, and repair of equipment to the Clinical Supervisor.
  6. Participate in product and equipment trials, reporting observations under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor.
  7. Identify clinical research projects and participate in their development, implementation, and evaluation under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor.
Qualifications

Education and Experience

Baccalaureate degree in Occupational Therapy from an approved university program.

Current full registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC. Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) or the British Columbia Society of Occupational Therapists (BCSOT).

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
