Providence Health Care is seeking applications for casual and part-time Youth Clinic Nurses to enhance our primary care team. This role offers a unique chance to contribute to a supportive culture while delivering vital services to youth. Please note that the clinic operates Monday to Friday, ensuring all shifts are during the day on weekdays, with weekends and statutory holidays off.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care tailored to meet the diverse needs of patients. This includes addressing their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological requirements within a structured nursing practice framework. The Staff Nurse will develop, implement, assess, and modify care plans as necessary, incorporating both individual and group education into their nursing interventions while facilitating referrals to appropriate resources.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with BCCNM registration.
- Certification in STI Management (or proof of enrollment).
- Preferred certification in Reproductive Health.
- A minimum of two years of recent experience working with youth and young adults in primary care and mental health/substance use contexts.
- Experience with Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT) is an asset.
- Completion of Point of Care HIV Testing course and BCCDC Immunization certificate is required.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patient status through various methods, including chart reviews, direct observation, and consultations with healthcare team members.
- Identify patient needs, develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans using clinical judgment and evidence-based practices.
- Deliver nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards.
- Monitor patient progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Document assessments, care plans, patient status, and progress in both manual and electronic formats.
- Provide direct nursing interventions during crisis situations.
- Facilitate patient education and group sessions to promote health and well-being.
- Guide and support other staff members in patient care to ensure effective teamwork.
- Participate in nursing orientation and share knowledge with peers and students.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices.
- Advocate for patients' rights and ensure their dignity, privacy, and autonomy are respected.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
