The Director of Development Services & Projects is tasked with the oversight, planning, and assessment of all significant capital initiatives within the designated portfolio.
This role offers specialized guidance and support to Senior Operating Officers by engaging in long-term capital needs assessment, advising on design and construction to ensure optimal functionality and cost efficiency, and conducting thorough cost estimations and business case preparations.
This position guarantees adherence to regulations concerning worker and public safety, construction codes, municipal and regional bylaws, and environmental evaluations.
The incumbent serves as the primary authority on construction issues and supervises project development across all sites, including managing contractors to ensure compliance with quality standards and contractual obligations.
This role collaborates directly with architects and engineers to ensure excellence and practicality in facility planning.
The Director of Development Services & Projects oversees contracts and provides guidance to professionals and contractors engaged in specific project delivery.
This position is responsible for organizing and facilitating Project Building Committees, User Group Meetings, or other relevant project committees as necessary.
The starting salary range is approximately from $116,591 to $145,739, determined by education, training, experience, and comparative salaries for similar roles.

- A recognized degree in Engineering or Architecture, supplemented by advanced project management coursework, along with five (5) years of progressive post-licensure experience in healthcare construction project management, or ten (10) years of experience in construction project management within a large, complex environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Proven ability to articulate complex engineering and construction concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Familiarity with relevant legislation and municipal/provincial/national standards, codes, and development and building permit processes.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to negotiate consensus with contractors and departmental leaders.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations.
- Ability to perform under pressure with tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
