As a Field Technician for Construction Materials, you will be instrumental in maintaining the quality and reliability of construction projects across various sectors, including commercial, industrial, and institutional sites, as well as infrastructure initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct Field Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) assessments on various construction materials such as soils, concrete, aggregates, and asphalt.
  • Perform soil and asphalt compaction tests to ensure adherence to industry standards.
  • Carry out inspections of subgrade and footings to confirm compliance with project specifications.
  • Execute testing in accordance with Canadian Standard Association (CSA), Canadian Council of Independent Laboratory (CCIL), and American Standard Testing Materials (ASTM) standards.
  • Pursue CCIL certification for concrete testing to bolster your professional expertise.
  • Prioritize and follow our Health & Safety program to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Assist with the maintenance and calibration of testing equipment as required.
  • Work primarily within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), with occasional travel for projects in other regions.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in materials testing and inspection, laboratory analysis, or relevant post-secondary education.
  • A diploma in Civil Technology or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with OACETT or PEO is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with civil construction methodologies and relevant testing protocols.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues and contractors.
  • Ability to work independently in both field and laboratory environments while collaborating with local office management.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel for assignments outside the local area and accommodate overtime, including night shifts and weekends.
