Position Overview: The Lead Environmental Advisor is accountable for delivering high-level management and technical proficiency across various projects and proposals within the organization. This role necessitates the identification and cultivation of business prospects linked to Building Sciences services, project scoping, and staff development. The position operates under the direct oversight of the Building Sciences Principal.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Supervise professional-level technical and administrative support personnel to meet established goals and timelines.
  2. Provide specialized technical guidance on projects.
  3. Assist in Program Development, Business Development, and office personnel in project scoping and budgeting, proposal preparation, and technical support.
  4. Oversee project management and conduct final reviews of all project submissions and communications.
  5. Identify potential work opportunities with current and prospective clients.
  6. Manage project financial performance, including budgeting and the necessity for change orders.
  7. Select subcontractors, oversee the issuance of purchase orders, and authorize subcontractor invoices.
  8. Direct the preparation and approval of project invoices, maintain project documentation, and conduct performance evaluations.
  9. Assess project needs and effectively delegate tasks and responsibilities.
  10. Train and mentor technical staff members.
  11. Act as a liaison between clients and regulatory agencies at federal, state, and local levels.
  12. Interpret existing regulations and guidance, collaborating with staff to develop compliance strategies.
  13. Prepare project descriptions, engage in technical presentations, and pursue publishable opportunities.
Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of Environmental and Health & Safety regulations, regulatory compliance, and issues related to mold, asbestos, and lead.
  • Able to recognize hazards associated with environmental work and implement safety measures.
  • Comprehend and apply environmental regulations and guidance effectively.
  • Capable of organizing and managing multiple projects for various clients.
  • Ability to creatively scope and bid on projects.
  • Understand complex technical and environmental data along with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients.
Education and Experience:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, industrial hygiene, environmental health science, chemistry, or a related discipline.

Experience: A minimum of 7 years in environmental consulting, including at least 2 years in management, consulting, and business development roles.

Certifications: Current professional licensure (Asbestos, Lead) and OSHA Hazwoper 40 Hour Certification and/or General Industry 10 or 30 Hour Certifications are advantageous.

Additional Requirements: Must be physically capable of operating vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license, maintain an acceptable driving record, and obtain medical clearance from a baseline physical.

Work Environment:

This role involves approximately 60 – 75% office work in a controlled environment and 25 – 40% travel to client sites, which may involve exposure to environmental job hazards.
